On August 23, 2025, Christopher T., a DHL employee and Verdi shop steward at the Leipzig/Halle hub, spoke at the “March to Airport” protest against German weapons deliveries to Israel. In his speech, he criticized DHL's handling of military shipments, including Rheinmetall containers. On September 11, he was suspended, and on September 23, DHL fired him without notice, alleging breaches of confidentiality and other contractual violations.

The hub, one of Europe’s largest cargo airports, employs nearly 6,000 people and has a history of union activism; Christopher was an active participant in recent wage negotiations and strikes. Following his termination, over 70 union and Palestine activists issued a protest letter demanding his reinstatement and amplifying attention on DHL’s complicity in arms deliveries to Israel.
